The trademark availability search – also called clearance search – is probably the most important step of a branding project.

In the context of an application for trademark registration, a trademark availability search is crucial not only to avoid a refusal of the application for likelihood of confusion with pending or registered marks, but also to avoid, as much as possible, infringement problems down the road after having put the trademark on the market.
